Mark Kincey graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a major in Media Arts and Cultures, where he also completed a Certificate in Film Production and a minor in Political Science. His academic work combined creative practice with critical perspectives on media, helping shape an approach to filmmaking and multimedia that values both craft and thoughtful storytelling.
Alongside his studies and professional work, Mark has gained experience across a range of creative and media environments. He previously worked in the marketing department at Educa Pra Todos, a Brazilian non-profit organization dedicated to democratizing access to education across the country. In Canada, he spent over two years with UNB Media Services as a photographer and video editor, producing visual content for the university community. He also completed a brief stint at the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre, contributing to video work related to social justice initiatives. Mark currently works with Frictive Pictures, where he continues to develop projects across film and multimedia.
Mark’s perspective is shaped by a global upbringing. He was born in São Paulo, Brazil, lived in Singapore from the age of eight before returning to Brazil two years later, and later moved to Canada in the fall of 2021. These experiences across different cultures and environments continue to inform his creative outlook and the stories he is drawn to explore.
His work spans photography, film, and digital media, with experience in roles ranging from cinematography and directing to editing and visual storytelling. While he enjoys collaborating across different parts of the creative process, he feels particularly at home working in photography, videography, and video editing, where image, rhythm, and atmosphere come together to shape a story.
